SCHEME OF EXAMINATION 

Uniform System of Assessment from Academic year 2017-2018

The uniformity  in the System of Assessment and Examination  For Class  IX And  X in all CBSE    affiliated  School has been implemented  on  the Restoration of Board Examination  For Class X From Academic  year 2017-18 onwards.
With the restoration of Class X Board Examination , the Dual Scheame of Examination for Class X ( Board Examinations & Home Examinations) discontinued for Class X  from the Academic year 2017-18 and onward and Examinations would be conducted as per Remodeled  Assessment Structure.

Remodeled  Assessment  Structure  

On the Restoration of Board Examination for Class X From Academic  year 2017-18 onwards,Class IX/X under NSQF, The vocational subject can be offered as an additional (optional) subject in combination with five core Academic subjects. The CGPA of class IX and X will be calculated based on the grade obtained in five academic subjects and grade obtained in vocational subject will be reflected under additional (optional) subject.
                                                                         OR
Vocational subject can be offered as additional (compulsory) subject with five core Academic subjects. The CGPA of Class IX / X will be calculated based on the grade obtained in all six subjects, if vocational subject is taken as additional (compulsory) sixth subject.
Student can also opt 7th subject as optional (e g. Regional Language) if desired.
If any Student  fails in any one of the three electives subjects( i.e. Science, mathematice, social science) then it will be replaced by vocational subject ( offered as 6th additional subject) and result of class X Board Examination will be calculated accordingly.
However student desire to reappear in the failed subject, he/ she may appear alongwoth the compartment examination

Internal Assessment:                                                                                                          20 marks

(i) Periodic  Test( 10marks)
The School will conduct three Periodic writeen tests in the entire Academic Year as per own schedule and the Average of the best two will be taken. For the Purpose of Gradient learning, three test may be held as one being the mid-term test and other  the two being  pre mid term and post mid-term  with Portion Of Syllabus Cumulatively Covered. The Gradually  increasing Portion of content  would prepare student  acquire  confidence  for appearing in the Board Examination With 100% syllabus. The School will take The Average of the best two tests for final marks submission.
(ii) Notebook  Submission (5 marks)
Notebook Submission  as a part of internal  assessment is aimed at enhancing seriousness of student toward preparing notes for the Topics being taught in the Class Room as well as Assignment. This also address critical aspect of regularity,punctuality, neatness and notebook upkeep.
(iii) Subject  Enrichment  Activities (5 marks)
These are subject specific application activities aimed at enrichment  of the understanding and Skill Development, recorded internally by the respective subject teacher.
For Languages:
Activities  Conducted For Subject enrichment  in languages should aim at equipping the learner to develop Effective Speaking  and listening skills.
For Mathematics :
The listed laboratory activities and project as given in the prescribed publication CBSE/NERT may be Followed.
For Science:
The listed Practical Works/Activities may Carried out as prescribed by the publication CBSE in the  Curriculum.
For the Social Science:
Map and project work may be  undertaken as prescribed by the publication CBSE in the  Curriculum.

Note:
Practical examination for all vocational  Subjects  for 50 marks will be conducted  by the School based on the parameter and marks will be submitted  to the board. 

GRADING 

(a) At the Secondary School Examination, assessment of subjects under Scholastic Area A shall be in numerical scores to be converted to Grades on a nine-point scale which shall be indicated in the Statement of Subject wise Performance/Certificate of Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation. Assessment in subjects under Scholastic Area B shall also be in grades, as per Scheme of Studies.
(b) The qualifying grade in each subject under Scholastic Area A shall be a minimum Grade D. 
(c) The students will be assessed in subjects under Scholastic Area A using the conventional numerical marking and later converted into the grades and the same shall be awarded as under: 
(d) Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) would also be reflected in the Statement of Subject wise Performance /Certificate of Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation.

Note: Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) is the average of Grade Points obtained in all the subjects excluding 6th additional subject as per Scheme of Studies. Subject wise and overall indicative Percentage of Marks can be assessed as under: 
• Subject wise indicative percentage of marks = 9.5 x GP of the subject 
• Overall indicative percentage of marks = 9.5 x CGPA 

MERIT CERTIFICATES

The Board will award Merit Certificates to such candidates who have obtained Grade A1 in all the five subjects (excluding the 6th additional subject) under Scholastic Area A at the Secondary School Examination, as per the qualifying criteria. 

QUALIFYING CRITERIA 

Term Examination: Student has to Secure 33% marks out of 80 marks in subject 
Internal  Assessment :Student Has to Secure 33%marks out of Overall  marks earmarked in Each Subject
If any Student  fails in any one of the three electives subjects( i.e. Science, mathematice, social science) then it will be replaced by vocational subject ( offered as 6th additional subject) and result of class IX  Examination will be calculated accordingly.
A candidate obtaining minimum Grade D in all the five subjects(excluding the 6th additional subject) under Scholastic Area A as well as Grades in subjects under Scholastic Area B, as stipulated in the Scheme of Studies, at the main or the subsequent Improvement of Performance attempt, shall be eligible to qualify, class IX Examination. 

IMPROVEMENT OF PERFORMANCE

A candidate obtaining Grades E1 or E2 in any or all the five subjects (excluding 6th additional subject as per the scheme of studies) under Scholastic Area A at the examination jointly conducted by the Board and School shall be eligible for Improvement of Performance in any or all the five subjects. 
(a)  A candidate who has appeared for the Secondary School Examination and obtained Grades E1 or E2 in any or all the five subjects(excluding the 6th additional subject) under Scholastic Area A, as per the Scheme of Studies, shall be eligible for improving her performance in any or all the five subjects and may reappear at the only chance of Improvement of Performance to be conducted by the Board/School by July, as per the option exercised for the main examination held in March the same year. The candidate will be issued a Statement of Subject wise Performance/Grade Sheet cum Certificate of Performance provided she obtains minimum Grade D in at least five subjects (excluding the 6th additional subject) under Scholastic Area A as per the Scheme of Studies and grades in the subjects under Scholastic Area B and CoScholastic Areas. 
(b) A candidate who has appeared for the Secondary School Examination conducted by a school affiliated to the Board and obtained Grades E1 or E2 in any or all the five subjects(excluding the 6th additional subject) under Scholastic Area A, as per the Scheme of Studies, shall be eligible for improving her performance in any or all the five subjects and may reappear at the only chance of Improvement of Performance examination to be conducted by the School by July the same year. 
(c) At the Secondary School Examination, a candidate who does not obtain minimum Grade D in the five subjects(excluding the 6th additional subject) under Scholastic Area A at the only chance of Improvement of Performance shall be treated to have not qualified the examination and shall be required to reappear in all the subjects at the examination to be held in March of the subsequent year, in order to qualify the examination. The syllabi and courses shall be as laid down for Summative Assessment II for the year of examination concerned. The candidates' grades obtained in all the Formative Assessments and Summative Assessments at the main examination shall be carried over for the only chance of Improvement of Performance. 
(d) A candidate who fails to obtain minimum Grade D in the five subjects(excluding  6th additional subject) under Scholastic Area A at the Secondary School Examination conducted by the School/Board shall be provisionally admitted to class XI till she takes in the only chance Improvement of Performance to be held that year. Her admission shall be treated as cancelled if she fails to obtain minimum Grade D in the five subjects(excluding the 6th additional subject) under Scholastic Area A at the Improvement of Performance examination. 

UPGRADING OF PERFORMANCE-SECONDARY EXAMINATION

(i) A candidate who has obtained minimum Grade D in the five subjects under Scholastic Area A and a Qualifying Certificate/Grade Sheet Cum Certificate of Performance at the Secondary School Examination may reappear at the examination for upgrading of performance in one or more subjects in the main examination in succeeding year only, provided she has not pursued higher studies in the mean time. She shall appear as a private candidate. Those reappearing in the whole examination may appear as regular candidates also. The candidates appearing for upgrading of performance in the examination can appear in the subject(s) in which they have appeared for the examination. 
(ii) A candidate appearing for upgrading of performance shall appear in the syllabus prescribed for Summative Assessment II only for the year of examination. 
(iii) Candidates who appear for upgrading of performance shall be issued only Statement of Subject wise Performance reflecting the grades obtained in the said examination. (iv) A candidate appearing for upgrading of performance in one or more subjects cannot appear for additional subject simultaneously.
